Wilson was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he was pronounced dead.

Maywood Police said their investigation determined that Shepard shot Wilson and fled the scene. Shepard was arrested and transported to Maywood Police Department to face charges for murder, Maywood Police said. That was the second time Shepard was arrested for murder, they added.

Maywood Police Department officials said also they arrested and charged Shepard for murder in 1994. He was released in 2019, after serving 25 years of a 50-year sentence.
