A mobile clinic offering free COVID-19 testing and pediatric services will setup in Maywood and Melrose Park one day a week for the next four weeks. The mobile clinics are the result of a partnership between the COVID Equity Response Collaborative: Loyola and the Coalition for Spiritual and Public Leadership.
The mobile medical pediatric van will be setup outside of Rock of Ages Baptist Church, 1309 Madison St. in Maywood, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., starting Wednesday, July 29. The van will also be setup at that location for the next three Wednesdays in August (Aug. 5, Aug. 12 and Aug. 19), during the same hours.
The van will also be at Casa Esperanza/Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 1101 23rd Ave. in Melrose Park, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., over the next four Fridays, starting Friday, July 31 and continuing each Friday in August (Aug. 7, Aug. 14 and Aug. 21).
Anyone who is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms will be able to get a free nasal swab test. No appointment necessary. Free pediatric services are also available by appointment. At the Maywood site, volunteers will be distributing 2020 Census forms. In addition to testing, clients will receive referral services and follow-up from a medical professional.
Those who show up at the testing sites should have one form of identification, if they have one and an insurance card, if they have one; however, no one will be turned away for lack of insurance, the organizers said.
